Momma Austen was a young cat who appeared on a large property last year. Although her first known litter was last fall, she may have had numerous litters in her short life.
Over many months, Austen’s caretaker gained her trust and eventually encouraged her to come inside. Willoughby and his three siblings were born in a warm, safe, and secure environment. The caretaker reached out to the Salt Spring SPCA for assistance in caring for Austen and her four kittens at the tender age of 3 weeks.
Shortly after entering our care, Austen developed some health issues, and the kittens required supplemental feeding. As they got older, Salt Spring Cat ensured that each kitten benefited from daily enrichment activities, regular nail trims, and opportunities to develop their physical and social skills.
Willoughby’s forever home is on one of the other Gulf islands. Now named Bubba, he has a feline brother named Spooky as well as a canine companion. We wish them a lifetime of happiness.
